Facebook testing digital payments in india within its Messenger app the social media giant is now offering mobile recharge option within the mobile app. The latest facebook for android app (version 168.0.035.90) also brings in some handy changes.

The Network providers like, Airtel, BSNL, MTNL (Mumbai and Delhi), Tata Docomo, Vodafone Idea, Telenor and Jio. How to use Facebook prepaid mobile recharge:

Step - 1:

Open facebook app tap on the hamburger menu on the top right corner and tap on ‘Mobile Recharge’ then tap on ‘Recharge Now’.

Step -2:

Enter your mobile number and select the network operator from the drop-down menu followed by region.

Step – 3:

Enter the recharge amount if you already know it or tap on browse button which will show you all the available recharge options special vouchers and more. After selecting the plan or recharge options then tap on ‘review order’ at the bottom.

Step - 4:

Order details page enter your credit or debit card number and then tap on ‘place order’ at the bottom. As of now there is no support for mobile wallet, internet banking or UPI. But maybe the final version could support other payment options too.

You will be asked for an OTP or 3D secure password and once authenticated. Your prepaid mobile will be recharged. You will also get a confirmation receipt for the same.

Jio Phone from Indian 4G Telecom giant Reliance Jio, has received a special version of WhatsApp. The developers of the widely popular private messaging platform developed a new version for Jio Phone devices that run on KiaOS device. The ability to run WhatsApp on the feature phone should significantly boost the already high appeal of Jio Phone.

The immensely popular and still relevant first generation Jio Phone, as well as the recently launched JioPhone 2, now have a special edition of internet-based instant multimedia messaging app WhatsApp. The official WhatsApp blog confirmed the development of the KaiOS operating system that runs on the Jio Phone and JioPhone 2.

WhatsApp on JioPhone & Jio Phone 2: How to Install?

Quite recently, the first generation of Jio Phone and the JioPhone 2 gained the ability to support popular apps and platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and even Google Maps. Interestingly, all these apps and several more are now available on the Jio App Store.

These apps aren’t the full-blown versions that Smartphone users can access on their devices with capable hardware and larger screens. Jio Phone users can browse their Facebook and watch videos on YouTube but all of the functionality isn’t available. This is because the apps, including WhatsApp, are tailored specifically for the KaiOS that runs on the feature phones. The operating system is a significantly optimized variant of the Firefox OS.

Interestingly, apps from Google are also available for download via the Jio App Store. Google recently released the Maps app and also the Assistant app. Jio Phone users can easily download all these apps by simply going into the Jio App Store.

Once WhatsApp is downloaded Jio Phone users have to follow the standard registration process and start using the instant messaging platform.

1.   WhatsApp on these feature phones would be similar to the regular smartphone versions. Users can even use voice to type messages. For regular typing, users will have to rely on the increasingly antiquated T9 keyboard on the first generation Jio Phone. However, a full QWERTY keypad on the newer JioPhone 2 should make typing easy.

2.   KaiOS may be ultra-light, but it will be getting many more apps in the near future. For now, users of the feature phone have YouTube, Facebook, and certain Google apps, including Google’s virtual assistant. Needless to mention, the virtual assistant and the Google Maps offer hands-free, turn by turn navigational support.
